Breaking: Nigeria wins Bronze, defeats Honduras 3-2 in Rio

The bronze medal appears to be golden as the Nigeria’s contigent to the games is not likely to win another medal as the Olympics ends on Sunday.
After losing out to Germany 2-0 in the Semi-Final, the Nigeria’s Under-23 team were expected to claim the bronze medal by beating Honduras that lost to Brazil 6-0 in the Semi-Final, but the team laboured to get the victory against Honduras to claim the first bronze medal for Nigeria.
Umar Sadiq scored a brace and Aminu Umar got the other goal to win the game for Nigeria.
After several misses, Umar Sadiq scored the first goal for Nigeria in the 34th minutes of the match after he got an assist from Captain Mikel Obi.
In the 49th minute of the second half, Aminu Umar got the second goal for Nigeria to make it 2-0, while Umar Sadiq scored his second goal in the 56 minutes of the game to make it 3-0 for Nigeria.
Honduras came into the game when Anthony Lozano scored in the 71st minutes to make it 3-1. It was Honduras’ Marcelo Pereira who also scored in the 86 minutes to make it 3-2, but the Nigeria’s team held on to claim a ‘golden’ bronze medal for the nation.
