Airport project will kill our means of livelihood – Ekiti farmers tell Fayose

Some farmers, whose farmlands were confiscated by Ekiti State Government for the proposed Airport Project, have urged governor Ayo Fayose to rescind its decision on the matter.
The aggrieved farmer in a Protest at the project site described the destruction of their cocoa and other valuable crops without prior notice ‘’as wicked.
The spokesman of the group, Mr Ojo Awe, called on Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, to speak with all relevant authorities to stop the airport project that is ravaging the agriculture nerve centre of the state.
Owners of the 4,000 hectares of land earmarked for the building of the proposed Ekiti Airport.
Awe added that the Land Decree of 1976, which empowers government to appropriate lands for overriding public interest , still mandated that there should be dialogue with the owners before implementation.
