‘Terrorists disguising as hunters’
The Defence Headquarters had raised the
alarm that the members of the Boko Haram were disguising as hunters and
vigilante members to evade being detected as insurgents.
The Acting Director, Defence
Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, said in a statement on Monday
that the insurgents, who had been smoked out of the Sambisa Forest, had
resorted to dressing like hunters and vigilantes to wreak havoc on
unsuspecting members of the public.
He said that the insurgents, disguised
as hunters and vigilante members, opened fire on some innocent people
during a ceremony at Kuda-Kaya village in Madagali community of Adamawa
State.
He urged the citizens of the community
in the operational area to be wary of accepting the services of unknown
hunters and vigilante members in order to avoid hosting killers in their
communities.
“Following the coordinated military
offensive against the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa
Forest, the fleeing terrorists now disguise as vigilantes or hunters to
evade easy detection,” Abubakar said.
