JUST IN: Surrender Yourself To Security Agencies - Yoruba Monarch Tells Sunday Igboho
July 6, 2021
Olowu Of Owu- Kuta, Makama Oyelude, a traditional ruler in Osun State, has asked Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, to give himself in for arrest and end his agitation for the Yoruba Nation.
After invading Adeyemo' s home in Ibadan and killing two of his supporters, the Department of State Services labeled him wanted and ordered him to present himself to any security agency for arrest.
Oba Oyelude, who branded mounting agitations for independence in Southern Nigeria as " dead on arrival" while fielding questions from journalists on Sunday, urged Adeyemo to leave his hideaway and subject himself to arrest before it was too late.
The supreme Yoruba king of Owu kingdom urged secessionists to engage in conversation with the federal government, claiming that " no one dares to challenge the Federal Government and succeed. "
" I am not a member of separatist and unpatriotic Nigerians' agitations for independence, and I cannot be a part of it, " he stated. Even if Nigerians do not agree with everything, we should not secede. You can' t talk about secession without consultations, which is why even the Obas aren' t talking about it.
" It will be tough for them (agitators) to secede because it is dead on arrival. The federal government is the nation' s father, and the separatist movement is a costly conflict; it' s as if you' re fighting the state. Regions that secede will face suffering, hardship, and internal strife.
" No one dares to take on the federal government and win. I will advise the protestors to engage in discussions with the federal government. They' ve had enough of opportunities to do so now that the fruit is ready. Sunday Igboho has the option of voluntarily surrendering to the Federal Government rather than being dragged out like Nnamdi Kanu. The monarch replied, " There is no place for him to hide. "
" Let our Governors look inward and allow Local Government to have autonomy, " Oba Oyelude remarked, noting that he supports calls for restructuring. Enough with the " hire and fire" mentality. The state governments have scrutinized the local government sector, which is why I concur with Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in advising governors to grant autonomy in their states. "
" Rather than secession, I will favor a comprehensive, well- defined reform. The base of all intelligence obtained at the grassroots is local government, and if the local government is adequately organized, the problem of insecurity will be overcome. " Security crises would endure if we do not offer local governments autonomy, " the king explained.
