FG Announces Closure Of Ijora-Marine Bridge For Repair From Sunday 18th May 2025

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Works has announced a planned road closure for critical repair works on Ijora – Marine Bridge from Sunday 18th May 2025 by 7am for 21 days.
A statement signed by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Engr. Olukorede Kesha noted that the closure will be full at some sections of the bridge and partial at other sections.
She highlighted that this critical project aims to improve road safety and enhance the driving experience of motorists.
Kesha added that the work involves lifting the entire bridge deck to change the faulty bearings beneath amongst other repair works, adding that this will ensure a smoother, safer roadway.
According to the statement, the Ministry has carefully worked on diversion routes and traffic management and encouraged residents and businesses within the closure zone to plan accordingly.
It added that for safety precautions, appropriate signage and traffic control measures will be in place to guide drivers and pedestrians.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to improve our infrastructure,” Kesha emphasized.
During a recent visit to Lagos, the Minister of Works, David Umahi while reiterating the federal government’s commitment to providing safe road infrastructures assured that time public will always be notified well ahead of time on road closures to prevent any form of inconvenience or panic. He also said that for each road closure, several alternative routes would be provided. This he said is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to ensure that economic activities within the state continue unhindered while repair works are ongoing.
