Lagos APC Senator laments loss of seats to PDP
January 27, 2016
Senator Solomon Adeola
The senator representing Lagos-West senatorial district, Solomon Adeola, says it is regrettable that the All Progressives Congress, which occupied every elective position in Lagos before the 2015 general elections, lost 14 seats to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Adeola said this during a town hall meeting in Lagos on Monday, according to a statement by his media aide, Kayode Odunaro.
The PDP won eight seats at the Lagos State House of Assembly and six at the House of Representatives.
Adeola, who is popularly called Yayi, noted that almost all the legislative seats in the old Badagry Division which comprises Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Ojo, Badagry and Amuwo-Odofin local government areas were won by the PDP.
He said the only LGA where the PDP did not win a seat in the division was the Badagry LGA.
The senator said the division within the state chapter of the APC affected the performance of the party. He, therefore, stated that it was time for the party to come together in order to ensure that such a defeat never happens again.
The lawmaker added that his legislative agenda for Lagos-West had become difficult to implement because of the many PDP members that were working at variance with his plans.
Adeola said if the APC did not unite its warring factions before the forthcoming local government election in the state, the PDP could exploit the situation again.
