Lafarge Africa Plc, a member of the Huaxin Group, in partnership with the Royal Initiatives for the Development of Sagamu Community (RIDSCo), on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, rolled out a wide-ranging empowerment and infrastructure programme in Sagamu to mark the 2025 Community Day, empowering over 100 students, commissioning 16 community projects, and supporting youths with skill-acquisition start-up kits.


The event, which attracted traditional rulers, security chiefs, and community stakeholders, underscored Lafarge Africa’s sustained commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in its host communities, particularly Sagamu


Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of RIDSCo, Mr. Sammy Ogunjimi commended Lafarge Africa, under the plant management of Engineer Deji Esan, for its consistency and cooperation in delivering impactful CSR projects over the years.


According to Ogunjimi, while Lafarge provides the funding for the initiatives, RIDSCo ensures strict adherence to Lafarge’s CSR principles in project execution.


“While Lafarge provides the funds, we at RIDSCo strictly follow Lafarge’s creed on Corporate Social Responsibility in implementing the 2025 community projects,” he said.


He explained that the CSR creed is anchored on key pillars such as the provision of shelter, access to quality healthcare and education, environmental sustainability, and initiatives that bridge communities together both physically and socially.


Ogunjimi also highlighted some of the expectations of the host community from Lafarge Africa, including increased funding for community projects, an upward review of CSR allocations, as well as enhanced collaboration on safety and security initiatives


2025 Community Projects Unveiled


As part of the 2025 Community Day celebrations, the following projects were commissioned and implemented across Sagamu and its environs:


1. Provision of 140 iron dual lockers to selected public secondary schools

2. Supply of laboratory furniture to Muslim High School, Sabo, Sagamu

3. Completion of Imushin–Ogijo Primary Health Centre (Phase II)

4. Completion of Ladejobi Primary Health Centre (Phase I)

5. Construction of a concrete culvert at Ifelodun Ado-Omitutu Community

6. Construction of a concrete culvert at Aruba Community

7. Provision of two boreholes at Itunlosi and Ladejobi communities

8. Provision of a borehole at St. Paul School, Oke-Ate

9. Renovation of a block of science classrooms and laboratories at Muslim High School

10. Completion of the Fire Service Station at Sagamu Interchange (Phase I)

11. Renovation of the old NITEL premises for community use (Phase I)

12. Construction of concrete drainage at Emuren Community

13. Provision of furniture for Isoso Police Station

14. Training of youths in organic snail farming

15. Bursary awards to 101 Sagamu indigene students in their penultimate class

16. Free medical outreach programme for community members


The empowerment component of the programme saw students receiving bursary support worth millions of naira, while trained youths were equipped with start-up kits to enable them established sustainable livelihoods.


Royal Blessings, High-Profile Attendance


The colourful event recorded the presence of His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi (CFR), the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, alongside other royal fathers. Heads of security agencies, RIDSCo executives, Lafarge Africa representatives and other key stakeholders were also in attendance.


The initiative was widely praised as a model of effective community–corporate partnership, reinforcing Lafarge Africa’s position as a responsible corporate citizen committed to inclusive development and long-term community growth in Ogun State and beyond.
