Amosun Mourns Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan

Former Ogun State Governor and current Senator representing Ogun Central, distinguished Senator Ibikunle Amosun CON, FCA mourned Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan who was once a head of an interim National Government in Nigeria.
Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan passed on at the age of 85.
"I mourn the passage, earlier today, Tuesday, 11 January, 2022, of the former Head of the Interim National Government of Nigeria, Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan. He was aged 85 years.
"The passage of Chief Ernest Shonekan is a great loss to us in Ogun State and Nigeria in general. He was a cherished leader and a respected Elder Statesman whose life and times epitomized service to humanity and the nation.
"I recall the crucial roles that Chief Shonekan played during the critical period that he served as the Head of the Interim National Government of Nigeria. Though, he served briefly, his contributions to national development, unity, cohesion and stability will remain indelible in the annals of our nation.
"Chief Ernest Shonekan would also be remembered for his meritorious service at the United African Company of Nigeria (UAC) where he rose through the ranks to attain the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the conglomerate.
"With his death, Egbaland lost an illustrious son, who was until his demise, the Abese of Egbaland. Ogun State and Nigeria equally lost an inspirational, charismatic, and a selfless leader in Chief Shonekan.
"May the good Lord grant him eternal rest and give the entire Shonekan family, the people of Ogun State and Nigeria, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss". Senator Ibikunle Amosun expressed.
