Bakare urges FG to reduce governors’ security votes.

The Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, says the ‘secret’ security votes received by governors across the 36 states of the federation are not in tandem with the Federal Government’s stance on anti-corruption and transparency.
Bakare, therefore, demanded that instead of governors suggesting that the minimum wage be reduced, the security vote be cut.
The cleric, who was President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 presidential election, said this while delivering a sermon titled, “Roadmap to successful change,” in Lagos.
Bakare explained that governors deduct money from the statutory allocations made from the Federation Account to each state of the federation and the FCT under the guise of security votes.
He added that for Nigeria to curb waste, there must be constitutional changes.
He said, “If we are serious about sound financial management, a more significant reduction in the size and cost of running government will be required than this present administration has been able to effect.
